Why Shunya

Built for the Reality of Physical Retail

01

Talk Instead of Tap

Store experiences shouldn't make shoppers navigate another touchscreen menu. Shunya lets them simply ask for what they need and get a conversational answer.

02

No App. No Download. No Setup.

The experience lives directly inside the kiosk or in-store device. Shoppers don't need to install anything, pair a device or create another account just to ask a question.

03

Works Where Wi-Fi Doesn't

Store kiosks often sit in basements, back corners and high-traffic areas where connectivity isn't reliable. Edge SLU keeps core voice understanding responsive on-device and syncs when the connection returns.

04

Direct Language-to-Language

A multilingual shopper shouldn't have to translate through English first. For supported language pairs, Shunya can move directly between languages while keeping the interaction natural.

Running Something Custom?

Connect Shunya to your existing retail systems through APIs and webhooks. Keep your current systems of record while Shunya becomes the voice layer that understands, responds and acts.

“Our shoppers don't think in English as a middle step, so our kiosks shouldn't either. Going direct from Japanese to Korean, or Bahasa to Tagalog, was the difference between a kiosk people actually use and one they walk past.”

Questions

Retail Voice AI, Explained Simply

Can the kiosk understand different languages directly?

Yes. For supported language pairs, conversations can move directly from the shopper's language to the response language without using English as an intermediate step.

What happens if the store loses connectivity?

Core voice understanding can continue on-device through Edge SLU. Actions requiring live information, such as checking real-time stock, can wait for connectivity to return rather than failing silently.

Do shoppers need to download an app?

No. The experience can be built directly into a kiosk or in-store tablet, so shoppers don't need to download, pair or log into anything just to interact with it.

Can it check live product availability?

Yes. When connected to the retailer's inventory system, Shunya can handle natural product questions such as whether a particular size or colour is available and where the shopper can find it.

Can it handle returns and exchanges?

Yes. Shunya can guide shoppers through return and exchange workflows conversationally, including cases that may fall outside a simple fixed script.

Can a shopper be transferred to a store associate?

Yes. When a request is outside the kiosk's capabilities, the conversation can be routed to a human associate with the relevant context already captured, so the shopper doesn't need to repeat everything.

Can the same technology be used beyond kiosks?

Yes. The voice layer can also support associate workflows, voice-enabled directories, customer feedback and other in-store experiences, depending on the systems and hardware connected to it.
